Nassau Bahamas Hotels

Nassau Bahamas Hotels are hotels located on New Providence island. So on this page I will only reference my top picks for tourist-friendly hotels that are located in Nassau. By tourist-friendly I mean hotels with activities and amenities catering to mainly tourists such as shuttles, souvenir/gift shops, programs for tours and passes to resorts.

Keep in mind too, there are 16 other inhabited main islands of the Bahamas besides New Providence, each with their own resorts and/or hotels. So although New Providence is the most populated island, you'll be able to find more seclusion and less hustle and bustle by visiting one of the family islands. I showcase the family islands too, just on other pages.

With that said, let me say that Nassau Bahamas hotels are some of the nicest the world over! The other islands have fabulous hotels as well so please do make it a point to check out my pages dedicated to the Family Islands. You'll be sure to find some hidden gems you may not have realized even existed. Visit our Bahamas Hotels page to see a bit about hotels on the other islands.

Also, keep in mind the difference between a hotel and a resort. A hotel focuses primarily on accommodation only (and often food and drinks) whilst a resort offers more of a one-stop-shop vacation spot. In theory, at a resort, you'll be able to have an enjoyable vacation without ever leaving the premises. So a resort would offer not only lodging but food and beverage and entertainment options as well.  To truly experience a destination such as The Bahamas though, the real experience lies not within the confines of one property but through exploration and making contact with locals and landmarks.

3-star hotel
Tropical Gardens, Nassau, Bahamas

Phone:1-(242)-327-7030, Email: reservations@astonesthrowaway.com

Age rating: 0+

Starting price rating per night, with taxes & fees:  $$$

Additional notes: Pets allowed, possible fees may be applied

Feel: Bahamian-traditional, Boutique, Vintage

Nestled atop a limestone hill in the western part of the island, A Stone’s Throw Away, offers great elevated views of the ocean, wooden floors, wrap-around porches and louvered shutter windows for a cozy, old-fashioned feel that is reminiscent of traditional Bahamian homes back in the day.

A Stone's Throw Away isn't located in one of the more touristy areas. The area it's in is actually residential for the most part except the main West Bay Street where the beach lies (like a 5 minute walk). The beaches along this particular stretch will probably be more secluded as the area doesn't have much parking so expect to see fewer people. There are a few restaurants and other businesses around the general vicinity like Traveler's Rest and Aquafire restaurants. You can probably walk to Traveler's Rest but maybe not to Aquafire. The surrounding residences are more suburban, upper middle class and above, so very quiet except for the occasional jogger. To see or experience the majority of the famous attractions however you'll have to catch a cab or other means of transport.

The hotel is located right at the end of downtown so you'll be able to walk to the shops, visit the straw market and participate in other great iconic activities. Feel: Modern, Sleek, Cozy

OK, so this location has seen its fair share of owners! A few hotels have been here before and not lasted. It could be because parking is nonexistent and there's no area to pull up to the front door. Nonetheless, Holiday Inn seems to be doing well actually. Finally, something sticks. Due to the small footprint, the Express brand seems an excellent fit. They've done well with the limited space they have and made the location a viable option. Keep in mind though that the "Express" brand of Holiday Inn is meant for hotels suitable for business traveling and short term stays as opposed to full blown vacationers.

Ocean West Boutique is actually located very nearby Sapodilla restaurant, which is very nice and upscale. Although you won't find much within walking distance besides the beach, the area is rather serene and peaceful. You'll see a few locals at these beaches from time to time but they won't be crowded. Expect to taxi or find means of transport to experience anything else notable.

Additional notes: Pets allowed

Feel: Boutique, Elegant, Sleek

With an elegant yet modern take on island life, the Island House actually has enough amenities to be considered a resort. I've included it here instead of with the resorts mainly because of the boutique feel and so it won't be overshadowed by the larger, mega resorts. With 3 restaurants, a cinema, a wine market, fitness classes and a spa you are sure to find lots to do right on property. Although it's far from the usual tourist spots, it is very close to one of the oldest and most prestigious gated communities on New Providence - Lyford Cay. The Island House is certainly upscale enough for those craving upscale.

The Towne Hotel is probably just about as close to downtown as you can get. Being very close to the Straw Market, Government house and other iconic attractions means you save on taxi fare. Although the beach may not be very nearby, it is within walking distance but you'll have to walk through parts of downtown. You'll also get to meet Max the talking parrot in the reception area. Just say "Hello Max" and when he gets around to it, he'll answer you back.
